  1. 1884-1970. French Radical politician. As 
  2. prime minister Apr 1938-Mar 1940, he was 
  3. largely responsible both for the Munich 
  4. Agreement (by which the Sudeten districts of 
  5. Czechoslovakia were ceded to Germany) and 
  6. France's declaration of war on Germany. 
  7. Arrested on the fall of France, he was a 
  8. prisoner in Germany 1943-45. He was 
  9. re-elected to the Chamber of Deputies 
  10. 1946-58.
